The Virgin White series represents a major step forward for the Knitting Sand technique, focusing on the unique lighting possibilities achieved with translucent, sand-based materials.

This project deliberately takes the craft in a new direction, stepping away from the familiar coastal associations—sandcastles and seascapes—explored in the original Knitting Sand Lamps.

By integrating white glass sand into the mixture, the material achieves a semi-translucency that allows light to softly filter through the surface. This creates a captivating layered light effect, enabling the pieces to interact with illumination in complex and intriguing ways.

The unique "knitting" technique is reminiscent of 3D printing yet remains entirely freehand and manual. This method allows for the creation of organic, uncommon forms and patterns. Each lamp bears the distinct signature of its maker, where every line of the sand thread is a direct reflection of the craftsman's hand and skill.
